Resident doctors, who have been on strike for 11 days over the murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, have today announced the end of the strike. This strike in hospitals across the country has not only caused great difficulties to patients, but a huge crowd of patients who have not been able to get treatment in these days will be seen in the coming days.
After CJI Chandrachud’s assurance, the doctors of AIIMS New Delhi were the first to decide to call off the strike. After this, after the meeting of the Resident Doctors Association of all the states, FEMA also announced the end of the strike and said that work will resume in the hospitals from 23 August.

In such a situation, on 23 August i.e. Friday, resident doctors will provide their services in all hospitals and facilities ranging from OPD to elective operation theatre, radiological tests, laboratory tests, admission of patients, nuclear medicine etc. will start with their 100% capacity. Therefore, all the patients who come to the hospitals for treatment will be able to get treatment.
Let us tell you that due to the strike, patients were not getting treatment in Delhi’s big hospitals like AIIMS, Safdarjung, RML, LNJP, Hedgewar, Delhi Cancer Institute etc. as well as in small hospitals. Patients who came from far-off places were returning back. However, patients are expected to get relief from Friday onwards.
