At the Alexandria International Film Festival held in Egypt on 10 September 2001, Amitabh Bachchan was given the title of ‘Actor of the Century’. It was not just an award, but the international honor of Indian cinema was.
Amitabh’s film journey started in 1969 from the film Saat Hindustani. The film did not run at the box office, but his acting was in everyone’s eyes. He then played the role of Dr. Bhaskar in Anand, who touched the hearts of the audience. He also received Filmfare’s Best Supporting Actor Award for this film.
His real identity was made from the 1973 film Zanjeer. The role of Inspector Vijay Khanna made him ‘Angry Young Man’. After this, films like Wall, Sholay, Don, Trishul, Amar Akbar Anthony made him the number one star of Bollywood.
The entire period of 1970 and 80 was named after Amitabh. Every year his films continued to be a hit. But during the shooting of Coolie film in 1982, he suffered a serious injury and life was in danger. At that time millions of fans prayed for them in temples, mosques and gurudwaras.
