KTM recalls 2024 Duke models due to possible fuel tank cap seal crack.
KTM has announced the recall of the 2024 KTM 125, 250, 390 and 990 Duke models. The recall is for fuel tank cap seals that may have cracks. To fix this issue, the brand will replace the component on all affected motorcycles. The replacement procedure will be carried out free of charge and exclusively by authorized KTM dealers.
Customers can check whether their motorcycle is affected by the recall by visiting the brand’s authorized service center themselves or by visiting the ‘Service’ section on the official KTM website and entering the VIN and delivery certificate number.
KTM says, “During quality tests, it was identified that some fuel tank cap seals may not fully meet KTM’s quality standards. Due to physical deviations, small cracks may develop in the seal, leading to the potential for fuel leakage from the tank cap area. To maintain KTM’s commitment to safety and product quality, the fuel tank cap seal on all affected motorcycles will be replaced.”

KTM 390 Adventure and Vitpilen 401 recalled
Earlier, the brand had also announced the recall of Vitpilen 401 and KTM 390 Adventure. This recall was for a faulty electronic throttle assembly that caused loss of throttle response while riding. The Vitpilen 401 was also recalled because both manufacturers share the same engine, electronics and other underpinnings.
The motorcycle engine will start idling and will not take any throttle input. This will become a big issue if you are riding uphill or you are driving at high speed on the highway. In fact, I also faced the same problem where the throttle stopped responding on a public road. Luckily, I was close to the dealership and was able to use KTM’s crawl assist feature to get the bike back to the dealership. Crawl Assist automatically accelerates the bike to prevent it from stalling at very low speeds. This comes in handy when riding in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
