Dehradun. Uttarakhand is called Devbhoomi, where many signs of Ramayana and Mahabharata period are also present. There is a Lakhmandal Shiva temple in Chakrata block of the capital Dehradun. Historians say that during the Mahabharata period, the Kauravas had built a lakshgriha with a million to burn the Pandavas, due to which it was called Lakhmandal. However, the Pandavas had escaped from it. This temple is built in the style of Kedarnath. Dr. Ravi Dixit, Professor of History Department of History Department of DAV PG College, Dehradun, says that Lakhmandal is historic and religiously important, which is also under the patronage of ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). The government is engaged in developing it as a tourist destination.
Mother Parvati’s footprints
According to Professor Dixit, this is a temple where people from India and abroad come to visit. Here the Indian Archaeological Department still keeps getting the remains of Shivling and idols. According to historians, Yudhishthira came here with his mother Kunti and four brothers in the Dwapar era. He stayed in a cave called Chitreshwar. There is also an ancient historical Shiva temple in Lakhmandal, Yudhishthira came here. Mother Parvati’s footprints are still on a rock here. These things make this temple more special. Professor Dixit says that here Duryodhana had built lakhs of wax -wax lakshgriha to eliminate the Pandavas, due to which its name later became Lakhmandal. Countless Shivling has been found here.
Own face will appear
Historian Professor Dixit says that there is also an ancient Shiva temple in the Lakhmandal, which was built in the Kedarnath style. This temple in Jaunsar-Bawar region has Mahamundeshwar Shivling, which is very special. In this, a person also sees his own face. There are also idols of gatekeeper outside the temple.
