Bride-to-be Radhika Merchant embraced the barbicore trend at the ceremony held in Portofino, Italy. She wore a haute couture cocktail dress from Christian Dior’s Autumn Winter 1959 Haute Couture collection, designed by Yves Saint Laurent. While most of the vintage dresses from the house of Christian Dior are in museums today, Radhika’s dress was auctioned in 2016. It was sold for a whopping price. ₹3,20,714 (USD 3,840).
According to Julien’s official website, Radhika’s Dior dress was acquired from Cassandra Carpenter in San Francisco. It originally belonged to Jeanne Magnin. Reportedly, the dress was put up for auction by vintage clothing expert Doris Raymond.
Meanwhile, the details of the dress combine the viral barbicore and coquette core fashion trends with a bright raspberry pink color and details like bows and frills. Although the sleeveless dress dates back to 1959, it is surprisingly modern. Additionally, the wide shoulder straps, slit on the square neckline, fitted bodice, cinched waist and pleated voluminous skirt add to the beauty of the outfit.
Meanwhile, Radhika styled her outfit with beautiful teardrop earrings, a bracelet, a diamond ring, a pink Hermes mini Kelly bag and Manolo Blahnik jeweled white Hangisi flats. She tied her wavy hair in a side-parted ponytail and accessorised with a printed silk scarf. Lastly, feathered brows, fuchsia pink lip shade and minimal glam completed her look.
