The organizers of the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) have officially issued a statement against him about the recent police case and fraud allegations. In the statement, Managing Director, Anil Mishra, and CEO Abhishek Mishra, consider these claims as ‘baseless’ and believe that they are stemmed by the efforts of ‘reputed damage’.
DPIF CEO addressed allegations of fraud, police case addressed
In a statement, DPIF organizers claim that the allegations ‘invited serious security concerns and guests for the team’. The ceremony was originally scheduled on 20 February in Taj Lands and, Mumbai, but the news was broken before the month of Mumbai Police, which was filing an FIR against the organizers. The MD and CEO claimed in a statement that ‘some persons attempted a forced recovery’ and ‘interrupted the incident’.

DPFF also wrote on social media: “With flexibility and responsibility, we move forward. A heritage cannot be shaken. A celebration cannot be stopped,” urging everyone not to fall to “false and malicious stories”. He also claimed that “a formal clearance and clean anticadeant is currently in the process with Bandra Police Station.” The Dadasaheb Phalke, submitted by the President of India during the National Film Awards, is different from the Lifetime Achievement Award, the awards presented at the DPIFF.
Case against DPIF organizers
NDTV reported on 7 February that the Mumbai Police filed an FIR against Anil, a former member of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), to claim the Center to support the event for allegedly organizing the event.
They were also accused of cheating various state governments, including the tourism departments of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Maharashtra, and institutions like Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Life Insurance Corporation, Haldirams, Aer, Cinepolis, PVRX and Senso. The organizers have allegedly been accused under sections 318 (4) and 319 (2) of the Indian Joint Code.
According to police sources, MD Anil has been accused of allegedly selling prizes in the name of Dadasaheb Phalke to several actors. He also cited the participation of major Bollywood actors, allegedly charging 2.5 lakhs for a pass to allow two people and pass these awards as part of the National Film Awards. Sources also told the publication that money was collected under the International Tourism Festival Private Limited, which has now been closed.
