From earbuds to speakers, everyone wants to be tech-savvy, but not everyone is loyal to every brand. Tech gifts may remain unused if you don’t know the recipient’s preferences. If you want to be safe, use peripherals like power banks or gift cards.
4. Empty purses and handbags
Call me superstitious, but Diwali is a festival dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Empty purses or handbags are highly negative and can send the wrong emotions. Fill them with chocolates, vouchers or small tokens to keep things positive.
5. Bedsheets
Gone are the days when one bedsheet fit every bed and suited every taste. Unless you know exactly what color and design your host prefers, leave it out. Comforters are a safe option. They can be hidden away in a drawer, and as long as they are comfortable, they will be used.
6. lamps
No matter how fancy, most people have already purchased their lamps. Candles and urli bowls are better options as they can be reused and are less specific to Diwali. Diyas often become useless and do not last the whole year for the next Diwali.
7. Perishable Foods
Diwali is already filled with food, parties and sweets. Choose items that will last a long time, such as dried fruits, chocolate or tea. Anything that spoils within a few days or requires refrigeration goes to waste among all the other festive dishes.
