Some places stole your breath, others stole your heart. Jumeera Thanda Island both. Located from the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean, it is a private island return where the time slows down, enjoys the enjoyment, and the nature takes the center stage. Jumera, a name that has re -defined the luxury since Burj al Arabia, who first catches the Dubai horizon, gives a bold new statement with his first African venture. Participating with the Thanda group, Jumera has installed a new benchmark for exclusive, sustainable luxury to Jumira Thanda Island in Tanzania and Jumera Thanda Safari in South Africa.
“Our goal is to create destinations that actually provide something special – rich, inherent in culture, and really unforgettable,” Thomas Mear, Center Operating Officer and Interim CEO, Jumerah.
Art of barefoot luxury

The Jumera Thanda island embraces the concept of “barefoot luxury” – a migration where simplicity comes from grandeur. My beachfront villa was a symbol of peace, which featured a private infinity pool, which was a grand four-poster bed, wrapped in white linen, and an open air bathtub designed to soak in the beauty of nature. One of the most striking characteristics of the island? A commitment to digital detox. Just the rhythm of the waves and the air whisper. Discrimt housekeeping ensures that every guest feels as if they have an island. With only five luxury suites and two traditional Swahili bandes, this is a great definition of solitude.
An arrival in contrast to another

My journey began in Dar S Salaam, where a 30 -minute helicopter ride made me away from ordinary. Below, the Indian Ocean is spread over endless colors of blue. Then, from anywhere – a private island appeared like a mristage. The reception was hot, authentic and full of soul – cool towels, fresh coconut water, and live beats of live swahili music. From the first step, I knew – it was not just a resort. This was an experience.
A sanctuary for the senses
Luxury here is not just about the grand housing – it is about welfare, balance and connection. The beach provides a return to the spa senses, which consists of infected treatment with overall treatments with indigenous vegetation. The beach inspired massage, deep tissue therapy, and sunrise yoga on the beach set tone for pure relaxation. Each treatment is designed to harmonize the body, mind and soul – an experience that lasts long after you leave.
Adventure with purpose
In Jumera Thanda Island, corresponds to every experience – to thrill, to calm, to wake up. Snowckle with turtles, a traditional dho, or kayak, via crystal-cleaer water. On the ground, the directed bird’s walk reveals the rich biodiversity of Tanzania. Beyond its beauty, the Thanda island is committed to conservation and community upliftment. Through the Star for Life Tanzania NGO, it supports various initiatives for children and young adults, including development, which strengthens mafia island youth and entrepreneurs with business skills for a permanent future. It is luxury that gives back.
Cuisine magic

Here, food is an art form. Each food – prepared by the private chef of the island – celebrates the local Tanzania material with international cleverness. In fact, for one kind of experience, Jumeera invited Chef Kevin Rohirig (Executive Chef in Zumeh Meena al Salam) for a special five-night meal program.
“This menu is a fusion of the Tanzania soul and European artistry – a true Pak visit,” says Chef Kevin Rohrig. Yuju Passion Fruit Saons with Rock Lobster Carpecosio with a Swahili Fennel Crust from King Fish Tatki, each dish is designed to taste by the sea, where every bite makes memory.
