The Tata Ultrose facelift has been slated to launch on 22 May later this month, while Maruti Suzuki Baleno will receive the makeover later this year.
While hatchbacks and sedans are sometimes looking at the shrinkage figures due to the rapid growth of SUVs and crossover, as well as MPV; The premium hatchback continues for its signature location in the Indian passenger vehicle market. Maruti Suzuki has its own Baleno, while Hyundai sells i20. Tata Motors is another player in this segment with Ultrose in this category and its sporty version, Ultrose Racer. Toyota, Bhi, is a stake in this segment with Glanza, but it is actually a rebellious repetition of the Baleno. Interestingly, Volkswagen is also ready to launch its golf GTI performance-centered hot hatch in India soon, but it will be in a separate league, which will compete with high-position mini cooper S.

The Tata Ultrose has become an important player with piles of powertrain options in the Indian premium hatchback segment in its design philosophy, premium appeal, upmarket facilities range and petrol, diesel, naturally aspirated and turbocharged units. Now, Tata Motors is set to launch a facelifted version of slapped ultraz to hit the market on 22 May. In addition, Maruti Suzuki Baleno is also slapped to receive a facelift later this year, possibly in the second half of 2025.
The Tata Ultrose facelift has already been teased, which has made us guess the changes. This twin-marble will come with a new front and rear profile to add LED headlamps, updated bumpers, sleek LED strip to tilites. In addition, there will be new alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, Ultrose facelift is expected to come with a new touchscreen infotainment system, modified instrument cluster, updated seats and upholstery and more advanced facilities. On the Paurtrain front, the same engine and transmission options will be in the form of current ultraz.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the best premium hatchback in India, which is sold through a car manufacturer’s premium Nexa Retail Network. Maruti Suzuki Baleno is expected to receive a facelift later this year, possibly in the second half of 2025. It will come with an updated design philosophy and more features in the exterior, while inside the cabin, there would be a more upmarket vibe. However, remain unchanged compared to the powertrain options.
