There will be no cosmetic changes in the petrol version of Tata Harrier compared to the diesel version.
Tata Motors is preparing to launch the petrol version of Harrier in the Indian market soon. The SUV was spotted at a dealership, which means the launch is imminent. The launch was earlier scheduled to take place on 9 December but was postponed due to unknown reasons. It is interesting to note that the SUV that was seen at the dealership was the Dark Edition, which means that the petrol engine will be offered across the entire variant lineup. Tata Motors will also introduce petrol engines with the Safari, which is expected to be launched with the Harrier.

Expected price of Tata Harrier
The petrol engine will help reduce the starting price of the Harrier. The estimated starting price of Tata Harrier petrol variant in India is approximately Rs 13-14 lakh (ex-showroom), which is slightly lower than the current diesel price range from 14 lakhs 25.25 lakh. With this pricing strategy and the introduction of a new engine, Tata Motors aims to position the Harrier in the mid-size SUV market, offering consumers a more refined petrol option while maintaining the vehicle’s features and visual appeal.

Tata Harrier will share its engine with Sierra
At the core of the Harrier Petrol is an all-new 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine from Tata’s “Hyperion” series. This is the same engine that recently made its debut in the Sierra. This powertrain is equipped with high-pressure gasoline direct injection, an aluminum engine block that reduces weight while increasing stiffness, and a water-cooled variable-geometry turbocharger. Additionally, the engine features dual cam phasing, a variable oil pump, an integrated exhaust manifold within the cylinder head, and a maintenance-free timing chain and valve train for long life and low ownership costs.
Regarding performance, this 1.5-litre engine is rated at around 168-170 bhp (about 170 hp) at around 5,000 rpm, producing around 280 Nm of peak torque within the 2,000-3,500 rpm range.
Both manual and automatic transmission options are expected. The automatic transmission will be a torque converter unit. The manual gearbox will be a 6-speed unit.
tata harrier petrol update
The petrol Harrier will retain its existing design. Inside the cabin, the SUV will include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, a 360-degree camera, and a level-2 ADAS safety suite. As a result, the petrol version will match the features of the diesel and offer equally appealing allure.
