The application process for admission to private schools will start on 9 October 2025 under the Education (RTE) Act for the 2025-26 academic year.

The Tamil Nadu government has been slated to issue RTE admission 2025 notification on October 6, 2025. The application process for admission to private schools will start on 9 October 2025 under Right to Education for 2025-26 Educational Year.
This decision of the Tamil Nadu government follows the disbursement of the center of the appropriate part of the state of about Rs 700 crore.
The Tamil Nadu School Education Department said in a statement, “The Tamil Nadu government announced the commencement of admission under the right of children for the independent and compulsory education act, 2009 (RTE Act) for the academic year 2025-26.”
“This decision follows the release of the state’s fixed stake of the RTE Reimbursement Fund by the Government of India,” the statement said … A special 10-day online admission window has been set to regularize eligible children already recruited under RTE Kota. “
School principals should identify eligible students, obtain the consent of written parents, and report the total number of seats filled in admission level classes by October 7, 2025. The final list of children eligible for admission under RTE will be released on October 14, 2025.
Families earning annual income of Rs 1.5 lakh or less are eligible to apply for the scheme. They have to submit relevant documents to the Directorate of Primary Education for verification, the governing body overseeing the admission process. Detailed application process and eligibility criteria will be mentioned in the notification to be issued on Tuesday.
To apply, the parents need to upload the child’s birth certificate, scan copy of the Aadhaar card and their income details with the application form. They have to register online with a valid mobile number and email ID. Next, fill the application form with individual, educational and family income details. Select preferred schools from options available under RTE quota. Review and submit the application form before the deadline.
