The US Space Agency stated that the launch of the NASA -SpaceX Crew -10 Mission, which paves the way for the return of two Starlineer astronauts at the international space station, was postponed on Wednesday. With the delay in crew -10 launch, the return of Sunita Williams and Buch Wilmor will also be postponed.
Crew -10 is important because it is to replace crew -9, of which ‘stranded’ astronaut Sunita Williams and part of Buch Wilmor. NASA had earlier said that Crew -9 could return from the International Space Station (ISS) when the crew is launched in space.
Therefore, the successful launch of Crew -10 got stuck in space for nine months after a trip on Boeing’s defective Starlineer, setting the long -awaited homecoming of American astronauts Buch Wilmor and Sunita Williams.
Why was the crew -10 mission postponed?
Derol Nail, NASA’s launch commentator Derol Nail said, “There was an issue with a hydraulic system towards the ground.” Nail said “Everything was fine with rocket and spacecraft.”
NASA’s Kennedy Space Center caused concern over an important hydraulic system for less than four hours from the planned evening liftoff of Falcon Rocket.
NASA determines new launch date for crew -10
NASA said the next available launch opportunity is 7:26 PM EDT, not before March 13, pending reviews at Cape Canverals at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center from Launch Complex 39A.
NASA said, “Docking has been targeted on EDT on Friday, March 14 at 11:30 pm. The US Space Force 45th Veder Squadron predicts more and more favorable forecast for situations around the launch site,” said NASA.
NASA first mentioned backup opportunities for launch on March 13 at 7:35 pm and on March 14 at 7:04 pm.
Despite these launch windows, no effort in those days will host how fast the company can indicate and fix hydraulic issues.
Sunita Williams’s return delayed: What is the date of new return?
The NASA official earlier said that after the crew 10 and crew -10, there is a two -day handover period between the crew 10 and crew 9, which reaches the ISS after a trip of more than 10 hours.
Therefore, for crew 10 launch on March 12, the return of astronauts was scheduled on 16 March. In cases of launch on 13 or 14 March, Crew -9 return will shift on 17 March or 18 March.
Crew -9 is now expected to depart from space station before 9:05 am (EST) on 17 March, Monday, Monday.
NASA said, “With the Crew -10 launch of March 13, NASA astronauts Nick Hague, Sunita Williams, and Crew -9 mission with Buch Wilmor, will not leave the space station before 9:05 pm on Monday, with Roskosmos cosmonot Alexandr Gorbunov, which removes the weather in Florida Splocahadow.”
Boeing manufactured Starlineer under a $ 4.5 billion contract with NASA to compete with the SpaceX crew dragon capsules, which has been the only vehicle of the US Space Agency to send ISS crew members from the US earth since 2020, reported Reuters.
The development of Starlineer has been plagued with engineering issues and cost overran since 2019, according to the Reuters report, the crew of SpaceX is placed behind the dragon.
