The end of a young life. An uneasy silence descends on Old Rajinder Nagar in Delhi following the untimely death of a 26-year-old UPSC aspirant. She was found hanging in her PG room on July 21.
The deceased has been identified as Anjali, who hailed from Akola in Maharashtra and had been living in the national capital for the past four years to fulfil her dream of clearing the UPSC civil services exam. However, a suicide note that has now surfaced online reveals a lot about the woman’s struggle with depression and her desperate search for ‘peace’.
According to a report by news agency PTI, in the suicide note he has mentioned his struggle with depression and has appealed to the government to reduce scams in government examinations and create jobs for the youth. Apart from this, he has also demanded reduction in rent of PG and hostels for students.
According to PTI report, in the three-page suicide note, the deceased woman has requested the government to allow euthanasia and requested her parents to donate her organs.
The news of Anjali’s demise spread like wildfire on social media and people expressed grief over this tragic incident.
A user named Ram Kharbala on X (formerly Twitter) criticized the government, saying that there is neither employment nor jobs. He said that the youth hardly get employment. From 8000 10000 rupees despite working 10-12 hours.

Another user named Somnath said that the race of coaching institutes has badly affected the confidence of the youth.

Meanwhile, news agency PTI quoted police as saying that the deceased’s family believes she was suffering from depression after being harassed by a man.
According to the police, a friend of the victim had recently talked to the media about the rising hostel rent. The friend said that the deceased woman had to vacate her hostel on August 5.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Harsh Vardhan said the matter was being investigated and further investigation was underway.
Police said that she was preparing for the civil services examination while staying in Delhi for the last four years.
