UPSC success story: Hard work and determination can overcome any obstacle, as is clear from the story of 40 -year -old Nissa Annijan. Her trip shows that age, disability, or other obstacles cannot prevent their dreams from achieving their dreams. Despite facing several challenges, NISA secured 1,000th rank in its seventh attempt in 2024.
Nisa started his civil service trip at the age of 35. While many people are either well established in their careers or considering retirement after passing UPSC at this age, Nisa wrote his success story. She managed her responsibilities with the support of her two young daughters, Nandana (11) and Thanvi (7), and her husband Arun, with the support of the parents of her retired police personnel.
Although NISA faced failure several times, he never surrendered. He learned valuable lessons from each stroke and continuously improved his strategy. This flexible mentality inspired him to move forward. He also had a hearing disability.
Inspired by his passion, Nisa prepared for civil service at a private coaching center in Thiruvananthapuram. He took a lot of inspiration from the sub-collector of Kottayam, Ranjit, who is also listening to impaired. Witness to Ranjit’s success, Nisa firmly gained strength, News 18 Hindi told.
Nisa filled his routine with inspirational autobiography, success stories and inspiring videos. His unconventional method maintained his mental strength and directed him to success. His achievement shows that it is never late and no dream moves forward. With strong determination, one can begin at any age.

There is a 42 upper age limit for candidates with benchmark disabilities (PWBD) in UPSC, General, OBC, EWS, ST, and SC categories. In General, OBC and EWS categories, 9 efforts are allowed to PWBD candidates, while ST/SC candidates have unlimited efforts until reaching the age limit of 42 years.
