UPSC is one of the toughest competitive exams in the world.
Three constables of Delhi Police have fulfilled their dream of cracking UPSC.
Thousands of candidates dream of becoming a civil servant. Through perseverance, strong will and hard work, many candidates reach their dream of becoming a civil servant officer. However, we cannot forget that the success rate is only 0.5%. To fulfill this dream one has to crack the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Three constables of Delhi Police have fulfilled their dream of cracking UPSC. Today we will take a look at his success story.
IRS Ram Bhajan Kumar joined Delhi Police in 2009 as a constable. After his father passed away, he had to work as a limestone worker in 2003. His first posting was at Vijay Ghat in CP Reserve. He started preparing for UPSC in 2015 and passed the exam in 2022 with 667th rank. This was his 8th attempt. He could not clear the prelims exam in the last 7 attempts. Due to this rank he was posted in IRS cadre.
IPS Vijay Singh Gurjar joined Delhi Police in 2010 as a constable. Later, he was promoted to the post of Sub-Inspector. He was then posted in the Central Excise Department in Trivandrum, Kerala. In 2014, he was posted in the Income Tax Department in Delhi. While working on these posts, he started preparing for UPSC but started appearing in the examination. Vijay Singh Gurjar could not succeed in the preliminary examination continuously from 2013 to 2015. Because of his dedication, Vijay did not stop his preparation. He passed the prelims exam in 2016, but could not clear the main exam. He cleared the UPSC Prelims exam in 2017 and also cleared the Mains exam. His hard work got him 574th rank in UPSC CSE 2017 exam. According to him, time management is the most important thing while preparing for the exam.
ACP Firoz Alam joined Delhi Police in 2010 as a constable. After joining the police force, he was inspired by the senior proposals of the department. Since he wanted to become an officer, he started preparing for the Civil Services Examination. He also handled the preparation for civil services. According to Firoz, managing time was extremely difficult. Despite many attempts and failures, he passed the Civil Services Examination in 2019. It took him 6 attempts to pass the exam. His secured rank was 645 and he joined IPS as ACP. It took ten years to fulfill his dream of one day serving as an officer. He proved that anything can be achieved with hard work.
