UPSC Civil Services Examination is one of the toughest examinations in the country, where failure is common and success is extraordinary. Many aspirants work hard for years without achieving their goal, but some stories show that determination can turn failure into a stepping stone to success. Similar is the story of IAS Vanshika Yadav, who failed to clear Prelims in her first two attempts, but ultimately fulfilled her dream of becoming an IAS officer by securing All India Rank 6 in her third attempt.
A native of Delhi, Yadav earned an engineering degree from Delhi Technological University (DTU). After graduation, he got a well-paid job in a multinational company. Working in a reputed firm like Cisco in Bengaluru, he enjoyed good salary and stable career. Despite this, she aspired to join the civil services and contribute to the country.
While many people keep moving forward in their career path even after getting a good job, Yadav decided to take a risk. He realized that if he didn’t pursue his dreams now, he would regret it forever. With this conviction, he resigned from his high paying job to completely focus on preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Despite being challenging, his desire to become an IAS officer was unwavering.
Yadav’s family contributed significantly to his success. His father, Rajkumar Yadav, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), and his mother, Sarita Yadav, supported him throughout his journey. His encouragement during difficult times became Vanshika’s biggest strength, enabling her to achieve her goals with full confidence.
During her UPSC preparation, Vanshika Yadav faced disappointment in her first two attempts and failed to clear the Prelims exam. While many candidates may have lost hope, he saw his failures as lessons. He adjusted his strategy, addressed his weaknesses and prepared with increased discipline.
Vanshika Yadav’s consistent hard work and confidence paid off when she passed the 2019 UPSC Civil Services Examination in her third attempt, securing All India Rank 6 (AIR 6) with a score of 1046 out of 2025. His success has inspired millions of aspirants, especially those who doubted themselves due to initial failures.
