Deputy Prime Minister for Afghan Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has given a deadline of 3 months to his traders. They have started closing all trade routes with Pakistan. Baradar has given orders to close everything from medicines to trade routes of Pakistan. Giving a warning to the traders in this matter, he said that whoever does not follow this order, all cooperation will be ended.

He said, ‘All Afghan traders and industrialists should turn to alternative trade routes instead of Pakistan. These routes have not only caused losses to our traders but have also created difficulties for the markets and the general public. I strongly urge all traders to implement alternative options for imports and exports as soon as possible.
He criticized the poor quality of drugs being imported from Pakistan and announced that drug importers had three months to close their accounts and end business deals there.

Baradar said, ‘The main problem of our health sector is the import of substandard medicines from Pakistan. I strongly urge all drug importers to immediately find alternative supply routes. Those who have contracts or purchases in Pakistan are given three months time to settle their accounts and finish their work.
He assured that Afghanistan now has access to alternative trade routes for imports and exports, and its economic relations with regional countries have increased significantly compared to the past. He further said, ‘The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is continuously working to establish new alternative routes for regional and global connectivity and to make the existing routes more standard and efficient from a technical and infrastructure point of view.’

Baradar also said that Afghanistan is often targeted by political pressure, and that trade relations and the suffering of refugees are being used as a tool for irrational political ends. He stressed that no one can deny the fact that all countries are dependent on each other in terms of trade.
Finally, he urged Pakistan that if it wanted to reopen trade routes with Afghanistan this time, it would have to give strict guarantees that the routes would never be closed again under any circumstances.
