New Delhi. There is a lot of rioting these days in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Here the local people clashed with some foreigners, which soon turned into a riot. In view of this clash, India has advised all the Indian students living there to stay inside their homes. The number of Indian students in Kyrgyzstan is around 15,000. However, it is not yet known how many of these people are in Bishkek.
The Indian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, a Central Asian country, said it is in touch with Indian students and the situation is now ‘calm’. However, as a precautionary measure, the Indian Mission has issued an advisory to Indian students living in the city to stay indoors.

The Indian Mission in the Kyrgyz Republic said in a post on Twitter, ‘We are in touch with our students. The situation is calm at present but students are advised to stay indoors for now and contact the embassy in case of any problem. Our 24×7 contact number is 0555710041.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has advised Indian students to stay in constant touch with the Indian Embassy. He said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘Indian students are being kept under surveillance in Bishkek. Now the situation is said to be calm. I advise students to keep in regular touch with the embassy.

On the other hand, according to the news of ‘The Times of Central Asia’ newspaper, there was a clash between local and foreign people in a part of the capital of Kyrgyzstan. After this an angry crowd gathered there. For this reason the police were kept deployed throughout the night. It said the incident reflects tensions over the presence of many South Asian immigrants in Kyrgyzstan. (with language input)
