Speaking to Local 18, horticulture expert and retired professor from Nauni University, SP Bhardwaj, said that while mustard oil is used for cooking in Indian homes, it also has other medicinal benefits. It can prove effective in preventing various diseases.
Omega 3 and Omega 6 in Mustard Oil
Various types of fatty acids and fats are found in mustard oil. Apart from this, Omega 3 and Omega 6 are also present in it. Mustard oil contains 60 percent monosaturated fatty acids, 21 percent polysaturated fats, 12 percent saturated fat, 6 percent omega 3 fatty acids and 15 percent omega 6 fatty acids.
What are the benefits of mustard oil?
Consumption of mustard oil proves to be very effective for cold and heart disease. It has anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. Mustard oil promotes and strengthens red blood cells. It works as a stimulant and also provides relief from body pain. Mustard oil reduces diabetic acid and increases appetite. Apart from this, it is also helpful in preventing cancer cells from growing.
