The case progresses with legal proceedings involving allegations and counter-allegations between Sooraj Revanna and Chethan K.S., with extortion charges also being levelled against Chethan and his brother-in-law.
A JD(S) worker named Chethan KS accused Sooraj Revanna of sexually assaulting him at Sooraj Revanna’s farmhouse on June 16. Following the allegation, Sooraj Revanna’s close aide Shivakumar accused the activist of trying to extort money from Sooraj Revanna by threatening to falsely accuse him of sexual assault. The extortion demand was later reportedly reduced to Rs. Rs 2 crore

On Friday, based on the complaint by Shivakumar, the police registered a case against Chethan KS and his brother-in-law under sections 384, 506 and 34 of the IPC for extortion, criminal intimidation and conspiracy.
Chethan KS has also filed a police complaint accusing Sooraj Revanna of sexual assault. On Sunday, based on Chethan KS’s allegation, Sooraj Revanna was arrested by the police on charges of “unnatural offence”.
What is written in the FIR?
The FIR states that Sooraj Revanna had asked for her (complainant’s) number after seeing her work in the Lok Sabha elections and asked her to “meet him whenever she is free.”
The FIR states, “Sooraj Revanna allegedly asked her to come to his farm at Gannikada village in Hassan. When she (complainant) reached the farm, Sooraj asked her to enter his room and lock it from inside. When she did so, Sooraj allegedly sexually assaulted her and later promised to help her advance in politics. When she protested, Sooraj threatened her with dire consequences and asked her to come to the farm whenever he called her.”

He said in the complaint that on June 17, the complainant sent a message to Shivu, a close associate of Sooraj Revanna, about the incident and told him that Sooraj had ruined his life.
It said, “But Shivu allegedly threatened him not to make the issue public and said they would give him Rs 2 crore and a job for it. Fearing for his life, he left for Bengaluru on June 19 (Wednesday) and met the DG and submitted a written complaint. Following this, the Holenarasipura rural police station called him today to lodge a complaint. The complaint was lodged this evening.”
What will happen next?
The case registered at Holenarasipura rural police station in Hassan district against JD(S) MLC and HD Revanna’s son Sooraj Revanna under sections 377, 342, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been transferred to the CID for further investigation with immediate effect, ANI reported.
Apart from this, the case file should be handed over to the CID for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Sooraj’s brother, former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, is in police custody following allegations of sexually assaulting several women. Prajwal was arrested upon his return from Germany, where he had taken refuge after facing rape and threat charges. His parents, HD Revanna and Bhavani, are currently out on bail, facing charges of kidnapping and allegedly sheltering the victim of Prajwal’s attacks.
