Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married on June 23. The couple recently reflected on their views on religion and interfaith marriage.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have supported each other even though their interfaith marriage has been the talk of the town on the internet. Recently, the couple revealed that they never had any differences over religion. In an interview to ETimes, Sonakshi and Zaheer said that there was never any discussion about their religion. Sonakshi Sinha shows humanity above religion
Talking about assimilating each other’s cultures as a married couple, Sonakshi said, “Absolutely! I think it would be beautiful. But actually, we are not that different from each other. Our core values are the same. Basically, our parents have taught us to be good human beings and believe in God, by whatever name you know him. The most important thing in life is to be a good human being, the kind of values we have imbibed – we have imbibed the same kind of values.”
Zaheer Iqbal cited Salim Khan’s inter-religious marriage
Zaheer also revealed that he might have 50,000 disagreements with Sona, but ‘it will have nothing to do with religion.’ He also added that ‘Salim Uncle’ (Salman Khan’s father) once told him that he had told the same thing to ‘Salma Aunty’s’ parents when they got married.
Sonakshi concluded by saying, “For the seven years we have been dating, the fact that we are from different religions has never been discussed. We both respect other religions. It has never been an issue or a topic of discussion for us.” She added that there is only noise from outside about inter-religious marriages. She added that being actors, they are connected to audiences from different religions.

Sonakshi and Zaheer dated each other for seven years before getting married on June 23, 2017, the same day they started dating. They both have worked together in the film Double XL, co-produced by Huma Qureshi. Zaheer, the son of businessman Iqbal Ratansi and a close friend of Salman Khan, was supported by Salman for his debut film “Notebook”, in which he worked with Pranutan Bahl. Salman introduced Sonakshi to Zaheer at a party.
Sonakshi was recently seen in Aditya Sarpotdar’s horror-comedy – Kakuda.
