Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first web series on Netflix, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, has received a positive response from the audience. One of the lead characters, Sonakshi Sinha, has now responded to criticism of the series being factually incorrect. Speaking to ETimes, the actor pointed out that people who criticize the show may be the same ones who also like Bridgerton. ‘These are the same people who will like Bridgerton’
Sonakshi reiterated her response to the criticism about Hiramandi, clarifying that the series is not intended to be a ‘history lesson’ but the world of entertainment created by SLB.
He said, “When did we promise to teach the lesson of history? These are the same people who will love Bridgerton. Yes, Heera Mandi is a place that exists in Lahore, but what we never told you is that we are going deep into the history. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an artist; He has created a world for you. This is a fictional version of what it was and just look at it as entertainment. He is selling you a dream; That’s what he’s known for.”
Sonakshi shared pictures of look test
On Wednesday, Sonakshi shared several pictures taken during her look test on her Instagram. Given that she plays two characters – mother and daughter – she says she made sure to make one character different from the other. Sharing a bunch of pictures, she wrote, “Here are some pictures of my look test for the cruelest of them all…Rehana.”
She added, “Since I had to play my mother, we wanted to make her a little different… so I gained some weight and we added a lot of drama with the hair, where it was longer and curlier than in Fairydance ” The makeup where we kept it heavy on the eyes, lengthened the eyebrows and added freckles… even green lenses!
