A surprising case has come to light in Bengaluru, where a tech professional found it difficult to order a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 worth ₹ 1.87 lakh. According to the information, a tech professional named Premanand, resident of Bengaluru, had ordered the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 smartphone from Amazon India. The price of the phone was ₹ 1,87,000.
As a precaution, he decided to record a video of the unboxing, but when he opened the box, instead of a phone, he found a marble tile inside!
Premanand immediately reported the matter on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) and later lodged an FIR at the Kumaraswamy police station. Police have started investigation to find out at what stage the parcel was changed.
Amazon response and refund
After the complaint, Amazon India immediately responded to the incident and refunded the entire amount. The company said that it will fully cooperate with the police investigation so that the culprit can be identified.
Although the customer got a refund, this incident raises serious questions on the increasing cases of online delivery frauds. Earlier in such cases, packaging or weight would have raised suspicion, but this time the scammer had kept a tile of the same weight as the phone. Because of this, nothing seemed suspicious before opening the box.
Lessons for online shoppers
This case is a strict warning to all online buyers. If you also order expensive gadgets or electronic devices online, always record the unboxing video, check the seal and weight at the time of package delivery and in case of any discrepancy, immediately report it to NCRP or the police. Online shopping certainly provides convenience, but if you are not careful, it can also lead to huge losses.
