Where is Ayatolla Khamenei: Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been getting a lot of speculation at his country and internationally due to non -appearance of public for a week. Ever since Israel and the US Army jointly bombed three major nuclear sites in Iran. No public attendance has been recorded nor made any statement of the 86 -year -old supreme leader since then. However, Tehran has responded to the attack on himself by committing a missile attack on an American base in Qatar. After which the ceasefire came into force, which was allegedly meditated by US President Donald Trump.
For some time, rumors have been flying about Khamenei’s health. In October 2024, a New York Times report claimed that Khamenei was seriously ill. After which discussions about his succession intensified. However, the Iranian government rejected these reports and the news of Khamenei’s meeting with the ambassador of Lebanon in November 2024 reduced these rumors to some extent. His public absence in recent times has once again given air to health concerns. Some social media posts claimed that they may be in a coma, although no confirmation of these claims could be done. The Iran government has rejected them.
There is speculation about Khamenei’s safety measures due to military tension. Several reports have claimed that Khamenei has been transferred to a secret bunker in Tehran due to Israeli attacks and threats of murder. His family, especially his son Mojtaba Khamenei, is also said to be with him. Khamenei is being protected by a secret elite force. About which much information is not public. This force works without communication equipment so that their location cannot be detected. Despite the ceasefire declared on 24 June, there are reports of Khamenei not coming out of the bunker. Due to which speculation has intensified that they are hidden from the fear of a possible attack by Israel or America.
Khamenei’s absence has promoted speculation about his succession. According to a report on 21 June of New York Times, Khamenei has nominated three senior clerics as his potential successor. So that there is no crisis of power in the event of his death or murder. Interestingly, his son Mojtaba Khamenei’s name is not included in this list. Which has shocked the earlier speculation. Some reports states that the Islamic revolutionary guard corps may play an important role in the process of succession.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister have threatened to kill Khamenei, making his absence been linked to military and political strategy. Some reports have also claimed that US President Donald Trump had vetoed the Israeli scheme to kill Khamenei, as it could further infatement. Khamenei has given a strong warning to Israel and America in its recent messages, in which he said that ‘Iran will not surrender’ and Israel will be given a ‘severe punishment’. These messages have been broadcast through national television or mediators, which has raised questions about them.
The absence of Khamenei has given rise to widespread discussion on social media. His thoughts are going viral, especially his old posts related to his personal life. Due to which people’s curiosity about his image has increased. Some users jokingly gave them surnames like ‘Feminist’ or ‘Marriage Counselor’. Which reflects an image apart from his serious religious and political personality. Meanwhile, the number of people on the streets of Iran is less visible. In the weekend, women protesters were seen holding pictures of Khamenei during anti -Israeli and anti -American demonstrations in Tehran. Mohsen Khalif, editor of Khanman newspaper, said, “His absence of many days has made us all who love him, he has worried a lot.”
Military conflict started on 13 June
The recent military conflict began on June 13, when Israel made accurate attacks in which several senior Iranian nuclear scientists and military commanders were killed. Iranian officials claim that 627 people were killed and more than 5,000 injured in the attacks. In retaliation, Iran’s missile barrage allegedly distinguished the multi -level air defense of Israel for the first time. Israel has confirmed the casualties of 28 people on their side.
