The Union Ministry of Skill Development has introduced skills for AI readiness courses for students from class 6 to 12. The objective of this course is to provide school children with a fundamental understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and new skills, making them not only able to enter the technical world of the future, but also lead it.
Major companies like Microsoft, NassScom and HCL are collaborating in this ambitious plan. The course is designed to complete students from both urban and rural areas, ensuring that AI education reaches every corner of the country.
AI Course: Who has prepared the course?
Kaushal for the AI Readyness course has been developed by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET). This includes three separate modules for students and a special module for teachers. The primary goal is to familiarize children with AI from a school level and teach them basic skills for its use. The Ministry of Education believes that AI’s initial performance will help children see it as an opportunity rather than a challenge. The teacher module focuses on increasing their AI literacy to make students better educate.
Union Minister of Central Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary launched this course during a program for Skill India Mission and Bharatkilanext 2025. He emphasized that the target is to become skilled in AI for school children and lead the future world levels. The purpose of this course is to empower children from both rural and urban areas technically. The initiative is part of the Skill India Mission, which promotes skill development in the country.
AI Course: How to apply?
To enroll in this course, students have to register on the Skill India Digital Hub portal. During registration, it is mandatory to provide APAAR ID as it helps students to add educational information. After registration, students will participate in the online training module. At the end of the course, an online assessment will also be conducted.
Upon completion of the course, students will automatically receive a digital certificate, which will be sent to the skills India Digital Hub and the award awarding for records. Students will earn 0.5 credit marks for each complete module added to their academic records. After completing 45 hours of training, teachers will get 1.5 credit marks. The purpose of this credit system is to encourage students and teachers to take the course seriously.
This course will not only enable students technically, but will also prepare them for future jobs. By studying AI, children will receive skills such as necessary data analysis, machine learning and programming in all areas in the future.
