According to a notification, Sikkim University has allowed monthly leave of one day per month for female students.
Sikkim University Registrar Laxman Sharma issued a notification to this effect on December 4 following a representation from the Sikkim University Students’ Union (SUSA) last month.
“The Vice-Chancellor is pleased to grant permission for one day menstrual leave in a month to the girls/women students of Sikkim University except for the University examinations,” the Central University Registrar said.
He said the leaves taken will be adjusted with the mandatory 75 per cent attendance criteria of classes held in a semester for examination purposes.
