Protect the water and forests… otherwise one day we will die of hunger. If you don’t believe it, then look at the condition of this country. Due to drought, there is such a famine that there is no food to eat. People are starving. They are thirsty but there is no water to drink. What can the government do, the grain warehouses have become empty. There is no hope from anywhere. If people’s lives have to be saved, then the government is now killing animals. Elephants are being killed and their meat is being distributed among the people. There is a plan to kill zebras and wildebeests, so that people’s hunger can be satiated somehow.
The matter is of the African country Namibia, where the biggest drought in 100 years has occurred. According to the United Nations, Namibia’s food warehouses became empty last month. Only 16 percent of the grains were lying in them. Grains are missing from the markets. Despite having money, people are not able to buy them. Seeing people dying of hunger, the government has decided to kill 83 elephants kept in parks and community areas. Their meat will be distributed among the public. Apart from these, there is a plan to kill 30 hippopotamuses, 60 buffaloes as well as 50 impala, 100 blue wildebeest, 300 zebras and 100 elands. This is being called culling.
What exactly is Kalinga?
According to Namibia’s Environment Ministry, animals that are weak will be selected for killing. Professional hunters have been employed for this. Some companies have been given the contract. So far 157 animals have been hunted. The government has received more than 56,800 kg of meat from them, which is being distributed among the people.
appeal to the constitution
The government is citing the constitution to kill animals. The environment ministry said, this work is very important because our constitution also says that natural resources should be used to save the lives of citizens. Let us tell you that more than 2 lakh elephants live in five African countries Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, Angola and Namibia. There is the densest population of elephants here. Due to this, there are conflicts among them. Last year, more than 300 elephants died due to drought.
