Neeraj Ghaywan’s homebound had a North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It is set to release in India on 26 September.
India shone in Tiff this year! Neeraj Gaywan’s homebound, displayed in the 50th edition of the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, received a permanent ovation after the premiere. On Sunday, the festival announced that the Homebound was in the second runner-up spot for the International People’s Choice Award. Homebound in tiff
The announcement was made on the official website of the festival. The International People’s Choice Award was not won by the South Korean satirical Black Comedy thriller by Park Chan-Wook. The first runner-up went to the emotional price of Jochim Trear.
Meanwhile, a separate category, The Main People’s Choice Award, Jesse Bakle and Paul Mascal went to the Hamnet of Chloe Jhao. This is the second win of Jhao in the category; She earlier won it for Nomalland (2020).
The first runner-up was Frankstein by Guillermo del Toro. Second runner-up wake up dead man: A knife out mystery by Ryan Johnson.
Apart from homebound, Anurag Kashyap’s monkey, Singh Gurjar’s Vimukt/in Search of the Sky, and Bikas Ranjan Mishra’s show Bayan-Huma Qureshi starring, were other Indian titles at TIFF.
About homebound
Homebound stars Ishan Khat, Janhvi Kapoor and Vishal Jethwa. The film was the world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May this year, which was in some UN honor section. Homebound revolves around two childhood friends of a small North Indian village, who chases a police job that promises them the dignity that has been denied them for a long time. But as they inch their dreams close to their dreams, the growing frustration has threatened the bond that puts them together.
The film is produced by Karan Johar, other Poonwal, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra. Co-products include Marizk de Suja and Melita Toscan du Plantar. Academy Award winning director Martin Scorscie is an executive producer for the film.
