The School Education Department has ordered the DEOs and MEOs to declare holiday on Wednesday due to heavy rains in the state
It has been raining heavily in Hyderabad since Tuesday. Due to this, the DEO has declared a holiday in schools on August 20 and 21. The higher officials of the School Education Department have issued orders to the DEO and MEO to declare holidays according to the situation.
While the DEOs of schools and colleges in Ranga Reddy district have declared a holiday for schools on Tuesday, the School Education Department has ordered the DEOs and MEOs to declare a holiday on Wednesday as well due to heavy rains. Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy held a video conference with district collectors on rains and directed officials to declare a holiday on August 21 as well if heavy rains continue. The collector has directed schools to declare a holiday for students if needed.
Major areas of Hyderabad like Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Khairatabad, Punjagutta, Ameerpet, Somajiguda, Filmnagar, Shaikpet, Kukatpally, Mussapet, Nampally, Tankbund, Musheerabad, Chikkadpally, Ramnagar, Ashok Nagar, Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar, Kothanyatnagar, Chaitanyapur, Secunderabad, Rasoolpura, Boinpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Chintal, Uppal, Habsiguda, Tarnaka, Malkajigiri have been receiving heavy rains since Tuesday. Meanwhile, the education department has also declared an alert for the Greater Telangana state.
Due to heavy rains, power supply has been disrupted in many areas. Drains and turns have been flooded and due to waterlogging on the roads, drivers are facing a lot of trouble. People going to office in the morning had to wait for hours due to traffic jams.
Meanwhile, the Aarakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a Bharat Bandh on Wednesday to protest against the Supreme Court’s recent decision on SC and ST reservation. SC and ST communities in Rajasthan have also announced their support to the bandh. The apex court has allowed states to create sub-categories within SC and ST communities so that those in immediate need can get priority in the reservation quota.
