New Delhi: The center is ready for the direct manufacturers of Linden, which is a pesticide, used to treat scaby and lice infections, which is to put a clear label on containers to educate consumers about the use of drug and its safe settlement, a government official said.
India’s Drug Controller General (DCGI) followed concerns about the misuse of Linden in humans.
To ensure this, linden is not prohibited in India, and is allowed to be sold as lotions and shampoos for human use. India is a major exporter of medicine, with domestic production capacity of 1,300 tonnes per year.

In January this year, the Union Health Ministry received a communication from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change about Linden, stating that Stockholm Convention is a global environmental treaty that aims to protect human health and environment from constantly organic pollutants (POPs). India is a signator for the conference.
Linden is constantly listed on organic pollutants under the Stockholm Convention.
POPs are toxic chemicals that persist in the environment for a long time, opposing the decline through natural processes. They can remain in soil, water and air for years or decades. They accumulate in living organisms and pose risk to human health and ecosystem.

The matter was taken in the meeting of the Drugs Technical Advisory Board in April under the chairmanship of the Director General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meeting minutes, reviewed by MintIt is said that the board also observed that the topical preparation of linden is used as a second row treatment for scaby and lice infection and the Stockholm convention also allows such use. Scabies are an infectious skin condition due to small mites that are buried under the skin, causing acute itching and rash.
Questions sent to the Ministry of Health remained unanswered till the press time.
In India, linden yogas have been registered for use in drug products for control of head lice and itching and sold under various brand names.

Regarding the case, the official Aware said, “Linden is an inexpensive and effective drug for the treatment of itching and lice infection and recommended for continuous marketing of drugs. Therefore, the plan is planned to issue guidance notes for the manufacturer for secure disposal of the drug at all levels including the scheme.”
According to the official, the unprotected disposal of the remaining linden has given rise to many cases of accidental misuse in homes.
