Sergei Lavarov insisted on coming with India, China and Russia. (Reuters)At the SCO summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s joining hands with each other made global headlines. In an interview to Russian government television, Lavarov said, “It shows that the three superpowers representing three great civilizations are conscious of their common interests in many areas.”
Although the main objective of the SCO summit was to ensure deep security and economic feudality among its member countries, the publicly displayed amicable atmosphere between PM Modi, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping attracted more attention, indicating that the three major countries get close to each other.
Meanwhile, a top specialist here has rejected the possibility of RIC (Russia-India-China) close dialogue. In the regular program ‘The Asian Casket’ of WestiFM, Dr. Alexi Maslov, director of the Africa-Asia Institute, University of Moscow, emphasized that India is a major democracy in Asia, although it is different from Europe, and its decision making methods are also different. Maslov said that he believes that intensive talks will develop between the three countries on bilateral basis.
