Top American diplomat broadcast a proposed new organizational chart, which will downgrade democracy and human rights and downgrade the offices responsible for women’s issues, global health protection and diversity and inclusion.

The announcement was otherwise low on details and only said that changes in the coming months would be applied “methodically”. But Rubio’s X account is attached to a story in the free press stating that the State Department has planned to close 132 offices, which is equivalent to 17% of all department offices, including to prevent human rights and to prevent war crimes.
As a result of the change, 700 posts will be eradicated, the free press said, citing internal documents. The secretaries are also being asked to cut their personnel up to 15%, and the department is transferring 137 offices to other areas of the agency to consolidate the programs, the free press said.
