Rohit Shetty, Javed Akhtar and others came forward to support the treatment of veteran actress Rehana Sultan. Rehana is also a National Film Award winner.
Recently, Rehana Sultan, a veteran actress, had to undergo cardiac valve replacement surgery due to severe breathing problems. She currently stays with her brother in Mumbai and is facing a significant financial crisis, due to which her treatment was getting delayed. However, IFTDA (Indian Film and Television Directors Association) president Ashoke Pandit, in an interview with The Indian Express, confirmed that Rohit Shetty, Javed Akhtar and Ramesh Taurani have stepped forward to provide financial support to the National Film Award-winning actor. IFTDA supports Rehana Sultan’s medical treatment
Talking about Rehana’s treatment amid financial crisis, Ashok said, “Rehana Sultan has been in touch with me for quite some time now and she has not been well. She had a heart condition, she had valves in her heart and there was some problem with it. She started feeling very unwell three days ago. So, her brother Rishabh Sharma called me and told me that she was seriously ill and they had to get her admitted to the hospital. He also told me that they had financial issues, due to which her treatment was getting delayed.”
IFTDA President and film producer also said that due to IFTDA’s intervention the hospital expedited his treatment. He also said that the doctors of the hospital Dr. Namjoshi and Dr. Sharma started his treatment without any prior payment.
Rohit Shetty and others gave financial help to Rehana Sultan
He said, “In the meantime I called Rohit Shetty, Ramesh Taurani, Javed Akhtar sahab, Rajen Sahni, Sunil Bohra and Vipul Shah, television producer Rajan Shahi and they immediately transferred money to the hospital account for her treatment and procedure. The money came immediately and her valve replacement surgery was done yesterday. She is fine, but she is in the ICU and will be under the doctors’ observation for a few more days. Rohit Shetty was out of town, Ramesh ji was at the Golden Temple, Sunil Bohra was also in Rajasthan, but everyone helped immediately.”

Rehana, 74, is best known for her first leading role in the film Dastak (1970), for which she won the National Film Award for Best Female Actor. She graduated from the Film and Television Institute (FTII) in Pune and is also known for her daring performance in the film Chetna (1970).
