“I think 2024 is my year; I have some interesting projects in the pipeline that will help me grow as an actor,” says Ridhima while talking to Hindustan Times about her films, choice of roles and more.
‘I’ve always been quick on my feet’
Ridhima was initially a theater artiste, she endured the rigors of the corporate world before venturing into modeling and later acting. “I feel like life has always been a free flow for me, taking me from one place to another and I’m always along for the ride. “I’ve always been quick on my feet,” says the actor, “but one thing I was sure I would never do was retrograde work.

Citing her TV shows as an example, Ridhima says that she chose the best of what was offered in the field. “I always did what mattered to me, no matter how hard it was. I didn’t want to do something illogical or, worse, feel stuck in another era. It’s not easy to go out looking for work, face rejection and, again, turn down opportunities that you feel won’t work for you. But I persevere,” she says.
‘It is always difficult to break new ground’
And she persevered as she is all set to debut in Tollywood soon, with a role that she seems excited about. She also has projects in other languages which she can’t reveal yet.
“Telugu films are making waves even internationally, what could be a better time to work here? But breaking new ground is always difficult; Especially when learning a new language. I might not know everyone in the Telugu film industry, but I want to make a place for myself here. Jaishankar’s wife saw one of my shows and thought I was perfect for the role. I am playing a character who is nothing as he appears on the surface. Set life in the South is so disciplined that everyone comes and goes on time, I like that,” she says.

Apart from this, Ridhima is also learning Telugu to play this character. “I am particularly interested in pronunciation because I know that I will say the same sentence differently when translated into Hindi or English,” she says, adding, “When I am speaking a dialogue, Saying, Ee chinna chinna uphaar kadu (Not these small gifts), I remember trying to emphasize the right words.
‘The food here is very tasty’
Ask her what she likes most about Hyderabad and she said, “I was so busy shooting for the project that I did not get a chance to see the city. I am stuck in Ramoji Film City. However, I have been here many times in my childhood and have very fond memories of this place. I can’t wait to explore it again, to see what’s changed and what hasn’t.”

But more than the places, Ridhima is looking forward to tasting Hyderabadi biryani the next time she comes here. “I can’t wait to eat the famous Hyderabadi biryani,” she says, adding that when I’m not shooting, I have to come back so I can go out. I am fond of eating traditional food, I get traditional food at home and even on the sets. But Hyderabad is the only place where I have fixed food because it is so delicious that I cannot resist myself.”
