Ram Gopal Varma had criticized Shivaji for his misogynistic comments on the attire of female artistes. Now he has doubled down on his comment with a new post.
Ever since actor Shivaji made misogynistic remarks against women at the pre-release event of Dhandora on Monday evening, people on the internet have criticized him for it. Now, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has hit out at Shivaji, days after calling him ‘ugly’.
What did Ram Gopal Varma say
RGV has said that at the recent pre-release event held for the film The Raja Saab, none of the female actors – Nidhhi Agarwal, Malavika Mohanan and Riddhi Kumar – did not care about Sivaji’s comments and did not wear what they wanted to wear.
RGV posted a picture on his X account, in which Prabhas is seen taking a selfie with three actors, all of whom are his co-stars in the upcoming film The Raja Saab. RGV wrote in the caption, “All 3 heroines of #Prabhas @AgerwaLNidhhi @MaavikaM_ @ridkhiculousart did not care about the moral barking of Shivaji and his bitter entourage in the #RajaSaab program and wore what they wanted to wear. Hats off to you 3 heroes for giving a big slap to those villains.”
For the event, Malavika chose a shiny black lehenga, while Riddhi wore a beautiful white saree. During this, Nidhi was seen in gray saree.
What did Shivaji say?
The controversy started when Shivaji called women who did not wear modest clothes as ‘daridrapu m***a’ (wretched women) and referred to their body parts with the misogynistic term ‘saman’ (things/property). She also claimed that if she did not wear such clothes, people would think she was a ‘wretched woman’. Following the backlash, he took to his X account and admitted to inadvertently using two “unparliamentary” words during his speech and apologized for them.
A few days ago, RGV had called out Shivaji and written: “I don’t know the full name of those fellows and hence I am commenting here… Hey Shivaji, whoever you are, if the women in your house are willing to tolerate a rude dirty man like you, then you are welcome to give them a moral police.. With respect to other women in the society or film industry or anywhere, you can put your opinion where they are.”
