Officials confirmed three deaths. A day earlier, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Kangra, the flood near a mini-hydroelectric project in Dharamshala was washed away by more than 20 laborers. Earlier this month, the collapse of a bridge in Pune claimed four people and injured more than 50 people. The Meteorological Department of India has now issued alerts of heavy rains in Gujarat, Odisha, Maharashtra and parts of the Northeast. In Satara district of Maharashtra, access to popular tourist destinations – such as Pushpa plateau, those depths and Vajrai waterfalls, Lingamala Falls, and Ajinketra Fort – have been temporarily suspended by 19 August.
So if you are planning a migration, it is the first caution season. Leaving the hills does not mean that is missing – it means making safe, clever options. With the right preparation, the journey can still be every bit as memorable.
