Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the 50 per cent cap on reservation will be removed if the India Bloc comes to power after the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a rally in Ranchi during his Manipur to Maharashtra Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, he also promised a nationwide caste census.
Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi said: “When the time comes to give rights to OBCs, Dalits, tribals, Modi ji says there is no caste, and when the time comes to get votes, he It is said that he is one.” OBC.”
He claimed that Dalits, tribals and OBCs have been made bonded laborers and have no say in big companies, hospitals, schools, colleges and courts.

Noting that more than 50 percent reservation could not be given under the existing provisions, Gandhi promised that the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) government would “eliminate” the 50 percent cap on reservation.
“There will be no cut in the reservation for Dalits and tribals. I am guaranteeing you that the backward sections of the society will get their rights. This is the biggest issue – social and economic injustice,” Gandhi said.
Criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the Champai Soren-led government won the trust vote in the Jharkhand Assembly, Gandhi also alleged that the BJP had failed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government.
