Aishwarya Rai is the latest Bollywood star to be featured on the official social media account of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He has shared a video clip of him from the 2008 hit film Jodhaa Akbar along with a special announcement. The Academy announced that Jodha’s wedding lehenga from the film would be part of an exhibition for the Academy Museum: “A lehenga fit for a queen, designed for the silver screen. In Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s red wedding lehenga is a feast for the eyes: vibrant zardozi embroidery, age-old craftsmanship, and a hidden gem – literally. The attached video features scenes from Ashutosh Gowariker’s film, which stars Hrithik Roshan in the role of Mughal emperor Akbar. It also showed a glimpse of the lehenga draped on the mannequin, which is still there.

Earlier, the Academy had also shared scenes from the film featuring Deepika Padukone and Shahrukh Khan. These were clips of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and even Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Meanwhile, the Oscar nominations will be announced on January 17. India’s entry Missing Ladies in the Best International Feature category has already been eliminated from the race. Now all hopes are pinned on Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light scoring an independent nomination in the Best Director category.
Guneet Monga’s Anuja has been shortlisted in the Best Live-Action Short Film category. The film highlights the important issue of child labor in the textile industry and stars actor Nagesh Bhosle in the lead role. The 97th Academy Awards will be held on March 3, 2025.
Apart from Anuja, another film which is in the Oscar race is the British-Indian film Santosh directed by Sandhya Suri. Starring actress Shahana Goswami, Santosh is the United Kingdom’s official entry for the Oscars. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
