According to a report by People, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have not been invited to King Charles’ birthday celebrations in London on June 15 this year.
It said this is the second consecutive year the little prince and his wife have not been invited to the event, known as ‘Trooping the Colour’, under King Charles.

Life in California
Since stepping back from their royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, have been living in California. People detailed that the couple attended Trooping the Colour together a month after their royal wedding in 2018 and then again shortly after the birth of their son Prince Archie in 2019.
The event was significantly scaled down in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was held without the large family ceremony at Windsor Castle for Queen Elizabeth.

Special appearances in 2022 and recent tours
According to the report, Harry and Meghan will travel to the UK in 2022 for a special Trooping the Colour event during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, which will celebrate her 70 years on the throne.
However, they did not join the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Instead, they watched the festivities, including military processions and aerial displays from the Royal Air Force, from a room above Horse Guards Parade with other non-working royals.
Prince Harry returned to the UK in May to celebrate 10 years of the Invictus Games. However, he was unable to meet his father again due to King Charles’ “full” schedule. The report states that they last met in February, when Harry visited London amid news of the King’s cancer diagnosis and met briefly at Clarence House.

Trooping the Colour confirmed
People added that although there were questions over whether Trooping the Colour would take place this year, the Ministry of Defence confirmed on May 29 that the event would go on as planned.
Speculation began after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak cancelled engagements by King Charles and Prince William after the general election was announced in July. Buckingham Palace said royal engagements would be postponed to avoid distracting attention from the campaign.
King Charles will attend the ceremony during his cancer treatment, and will travel in a horse-drawn carriage with Queen Camilla rather than on horseback as in previous years.
The palace also highlighted Kate Middleton’s participation despite her cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales, 42, is the honorary colonel of the Irish Guards, who will fly their flag at the parade this year.
However, she will not take the salute at the Colonels’ Review on June 8. Instead, Lt. Gen. James Bucknall will take the salute, People reported. It said it is still unclear whether Princess Kate will join the royal family at Trooping the Colour on June 15. She has attended the event every year since she married Prince William in 2011, except for pandemic-related changes.
