Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive the highest civilian honor of Namibia, which is the order of the oldest Velvitschia Mirabilis.
PM Modi is visiting Namibia on a state trip on the invitation of Netumbo Nanditwah, President of Namibia. He arrived in Windhok, the capital of Namibia, on Wednesday morning (local time). The journey is his first for the country and for the third time only an Indian Prime Minister has visited Namibia.
On Wednesday, PM Modi discussed with the president of Namibia, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas including digital technology, defense, security, agriculture, healthcare, education and important minerals.
PM Modi posted on social media platforms X after the meeting, “Cooperation in areas such as digital technology, defense, security, agriculture, healthcare, education and important minerals, was prominently engaged in our discussions.”
He said, “We also discussed how to promote linkage in trade, energy and petrochemicals. He thanked Namibia in the project cheetah.”
Following the discussions at the State House, both India and Namibia signed four agreements, including cooperation in health and medical, establishing an entrepreneurial development center in Namibia and developing CDRI structure with a global biofuel alliance framework.
PM Modi arrived in Namibia from Brazil and concluded his five countries and paid tribute to Namibia’s founder father, Sam Nujoma in Heroes’s acre National Memorial. Nujoma was a leader in Namibia for independence in 1990 and served as the first President for 15 years.
After his arrival in Namibia, PM Modi informed the X, “Namibia landed in Windhok some time ago. Namibia is a valuable and reliable African partner with whom we want to promote bilateral cooperation. President Dr. Netumbo is eager to meet Nandi-Nandit and address Namibian Parliament today.”
During his visit, PM Modi received a formal reception and honor at the State House with a 21-band salute.
