G20 Summit 2025 Live Updates: The G20 summit, one of the world’s largest economic meetings, is going to be special in many ways this time. India’s role is going to be very important in the G20 summit being held for the first time on African soil. Prime Minister Modi will be in South Africa from 21 to 23 November 2025. He has left for his journey. Before leaving, PM Modi said that he will strongly put forward India’s vision of taking forward the thinking of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’.
The PM said that this visit is taking place on the formal invitation of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. This 20th G20 summit held in Johannesburg is also being considered historic because Africa is hosting it for the first time. PM Modi reminded that the African Union was made a permanent member in the G20 chaired by India, hence this event is emotionally special for both India and Africa.
He said that this year’s theme of the summit has been ‘Solidarity, Equality and Stability’, on which South Africa has taken forward the results of the previous summits of India and Brazil. PM Modi will also participate in the 6th IBSA (India, Brazil, South Africa) summit and will hold bilateral talks with many countries. Apart from this, he will also meet the Indian community settled in South Africa, which is one of the largest Indian expatriate communities in the world. But this time the summit is being discussed for another reason. President Donald Trump will not come to G20 from America’s side. When President Ramaphosa takes the stage in South Africa to assume the G20 presidency, the chair meant for the US representative will remain vacant. This picture can become the most viral glimpse of this summit.

G20 Summit Live: America will participate
G20 Summit Live: The picture now seems to be changing regarding the G20 summit to be held in South Africa. Even though US President Trump has boycotted the G20 conference being held in Johannesburg, America has sent an official diplomatic note expressing its desire to attend the handover ceremony to be held on Sunday. This does not mean a complete boycott. US personal representatives and institutional delegations are already participating in the summit’s sessional meetings, which indicates that the US is not completely out of the forum, but wants to remain present in a limited form.
