Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran, Mahabharata, Vayu Puran, Vaman Puran, Padma Puran, Shiv Puran, Devi Bhagwat Puran, Mantra part of Yajurveda, Shwetashvar Upanishad, Prashnopanishad, Agni Puran, Garuda Puran, Skanda Puran, Vishnu Puran, Kalika Tantra, Karma Puran, Shakti Yamal This place is mentioned in texts like Tantra, Shri Ramcharit Manas, Yogini Tantra etc. This is the same place where the Mahapuranas were composed. Yudhishthir and Arjun also came here during the Mahabharata period. Not only this, in ancient times 88 thousand sages had performed rigorous penance at this place. Therefore it is also called Tapobhoomi. The oldest mention of Naimisharanya is in the Yuddha Kanda of Valmiki Ramayana. It is mentioned here that Luv and Kush sang the poetry written by Valmiki for seven days in the Ashwamedha Yagya of Ram on the banks of river Gomti.
We are talking about Naimisharanya. This great pilgrimage is in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh. This famous Hindu pilgrimage is situated on the banks of river Gomti, 80 kilometers from Lucknow. This place is also known as Naimisharanya, Naimish or Neemshar. Naimish i.e. Nimish or Nimesh and Aranya i.e. Aranya i.e. forest area is the area of divine element.
It is said that Lord Brahma himself had described this place as the best for meditation and yoga. Talking about the main attractions of this place, these include Chakratirthi, Bhuteswarnath Temple, Vyas Gaddi, Havan Kund, Lalita Devi Temple, Panchprayag, Shesh Temple, Hanuman Garhi, Shivala-Bhairav Ji Temple, Panch Pandav Temple, Panchpuran Temple, Maa Anandamayi Ashram. , Nardanand Saraswati Ashram-Devpuri Temple, Ramanuj Kot, Rudravart etc. are included.
Chakratirtha (Chakratirtha Naimisharanya)
Chakratirtha Sarovar is about a mile away from Naimisharanya station. This is a big circular reservoir. There is water filled outside around the circle, in which devotees take bath. While walking in water, we also revolve around this round circle. After the circle filled with water, there are stairs all around. There are temples of various gods and goddesses here. The main temple is of Bhootnath Mahadev.

There is a popular story about Chakratirtha that once eighty-eight thousand sages requested Lord Brahma to do penance for the welfare of the world and for doing penance, tell him about the best holy, gentle and peaceful land in the world. This incident happened after the Mahabharata war. Rishis and sages were also worried about the beginning of Kaliyuga. Lord Brahma created a cycle from his mind and asked the sages to follow this cycle. On the land on which the middle part of this cycle i.e. Nemi itself falls, then understand that that is the middle part of the earth. Brahmaji also said that that place will remain free from the influence of Kaliyuga. It is said that Nami of Chakra had fallen at this place, due to which it was named Naimisharanya and this place was called Chakratirtha. It is also said that Naimisharanya is the place where sage Dadhichi donated his ashes to his enemy Devraj Indra for the welfare of the people. It is believed that all pilgrimages remain incomplete without visiting this most holy land.
84 kos revolution
Parikrama of Naimisharanya is also done. It revolves around 84 Kos. The parikrama starts every year from the Pratipada tithi after the new moon day of Phalgun month till the full moon day. There is a permanent lake named Panchprayag here. There are trees called Akshayavat on the banks of the lake.
Other places of interest
There is a temple of Vyas Shukdev in Naimisharanya. Vyasji’s throne is outside the temple. Here, in a temple on Dashashwamedh mound, there are statues of Shri Krishna and the five Pandavas. Char Dham temple is also located here. There are temples of Jagannath Dham, Badrinath Dham, Dwarkadhish Dham and Rameshwaram Dham established by Maharishi Gopal Das Ji.
