During investigation it was also revealed that the recovered gold was of foreign origin. Therefore, it is believed that the recovered gold was first brought to India from abroad and then efforts were being made to take it out through the domestic route. Actually, smugglers know very well that after coming from abroad, every aircraft travels in the domestic sector. Therefore, he hid the gold brought from abroad in the aircraft.
After this, as soon as the aircraft came to travel in the domestic sector, smugglers tried to take out the gold from the aircraft. Before he could succeed in his attempt, Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit arrested him. According to the customs officer, the accused arrested on the charges of gold smuggling was traveling in an Air India flight from Indore to Delhi.
