The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to amicably part ways with its overseas coaches Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick following the senior team’s poor form in recent times, including the World Cup campaign.
A senior board official said on Tuesday that PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer will negotiate the final agreement with the trio.
The trio, who were part of the Pakistan team management during the Asia Cup and World Cup, decided to take leave after returning to Lahore from India and were informed that their services were no longer required with the national team.
The trio were told that instead the PCB has decided that they will work at the National Cricket Academy as they have appointed Mohammad Hafeez as the director and new coach of the Pakistan team.
But, apparently, the board found out that there was no clause in the contracts of these three that gave them the right to force them to work at the NCA permanently because they had signed up to work with the Pakistan team. did.
The official said, “Since Mickey is already with Derbyshire and Puttick and Bradburn have new responsibilities, after some discussion it was decided to end the matter amicably and release them from their contracts.” “
He accepted that the board would give a few months’ salary to all three as compensation.
He also confirmed that batting coach Puttick had informed the PCB about his new assignment with Afghanistan before accepting the contract.
Similarly, Bradburn has also informed the PCB that English county, Glamorgan, wants him to serve as their head coach.
Despite having a new team director and coach, the Pakistani team was whitewashed 3–0 in Australia.
Arthur, Puttick and Bradburn were all appointed by the PCB in April-May last year during the tenure of the last Cricket Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi.
