Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan made his directorial debut this year with The Ba**ads of Bollywood series, which earned praise from many audiences for its bold story, meta humor and strong performances. But not everyone was impressed. Pakistani actor Ali Khan, who worked with Shahrukh in Don 2, recently shared that he found the excessive use of profanity in the show disturbing and unnecessary.
Ali Khan is not impressed with the language of the show
Speaking on the ARY Podcast, Ali Khan said that he watched Aryan’s series but struggled to connect with its tone. “Recently I saw Aryan’s work… I found it very strange. One, you can’t watch it with your family because the language is very inappropriate. There was no justification for our language. And the level of people that were shown, do they use such street-trafficking language? (Recently, I saw Aryan’s work in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, and I found it very strange. One, you can’t even watch it with your family because the language is very inappropriate. And the kind of people you are portraying. Were, do they use this kind of street style language?
Ealy suggested that filmmakers sometimes rely on shock value to grab attention or boost ratings. He stressed that when profanity is used, it should be deliberate and restrained. “Agar gaali deni bhi to to close-up like honi honi jab zarurat ho tab bolo, tibhi impact aata hai. Har vyakti mein ho to cringe hota hai, boredom ho jaati (And even if you want to use abuses, they should come like close-up, used only when necessary. Only then does it create an impact. If it appears in every sentence, it becomes cringe and boring.),” he said.

The actor, who also appeared in Suhana Khan’s debut film, The Archies, has previously shared a warm relationship with the Khan family. However, his criticism of Aryan’s show reflects a broader conversation about creative choices in streaming content.
Directed by Aryan Khan, the series stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahar Bamba, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, Manoj Pahwa and Manish Choudhary. It premiered on Netflix in September this year.
