India’s Drug Controller, Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), approved the Ozapic (Semglutide) on 26 September for use in adults with type 2 diabetes on 26 September. Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk will soon launch a week’s injection of blockbuster diabetes drugs in India soon.
The ozemic will be available only on a prescription of a doctor, according to the sources quoted PTI,
Approval comes in the country amidst rapid increase in diabetic patients. CDSCO said, “Semaglutide injection (ozempic@) has been indicated for the treatment of adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus as an assistant for diet and exercise.”
Ozmpic was first approved in the United States in 2017. Since then, it has been taken by millions of people, including celebrities, mainly as weight loss drug. However, it is not approved in India for weight loss.
Novo Nordisk has not yet revealed the price of ozmpic in India. The company first received approval for Vagovi, a semaglutide-based drug, designed for the treatment of obesity.

What is an ozemic?
Ozmpic is a brand name for semglutide. It helps reduce blood sugar by stimulating insulin production from the pancreas. It is a weekly injection.

However, experts have expressed concern about the potential risks of these drugs for patients.
These are side effects such as muscle loss to serious complications such as pancreatitis, as well as renal and gallbladder issues.
Many people have also reported change in vision change, erectile dysfunction and mood. However, medical physicians are more concerned about the serious effects of ozmpic.
