OTT releases this week: We bring you a list of several movies and web series that were released on OTT this week. From supernatural thriller Shaitan to survival thriller Manjummel Boys, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar – there is something new for everyone. Let’s take a look at the shows and movies that have released or will be releasing this weekend on OTT platforms. 1) Shaitaan
Supernatural thriller Shaitan stars Ajay Devgan, Jyotika and R Madhavan. The film was released in theaters on March 8 and will be released on Netflix on May 4. Presented by Jio Studios, Devgan Films and Panorama Studios, Shaitan is produced by Ajay, Jyoti Deshpande, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. It is the Hindi remake of the 2023 Gujarati horror film Vash, directed by Vikas Bahl. It was written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik.
2) Manjummel Boys
The Malayalam survival thriller film is written and directed by Chidambaram. It is produced by Parava Films. The film stars Soubin Shahir, Srinath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathy S Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rehman, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson and Vishnu Reghu. Based on a true incident from 2006, the film revolves around a group of friends from a small town called Manjummel near Kochi who decide to spend a holiday in Kodaikanal.
3) Heritage: Diamond Market
Set against the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s, the project promises to be an epic saga of love, power, vengeance and freedom. Heeramandi released on Netflix on May 1. The show stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Adhyayan Suman, Sharmin Sehgal and Taha Shah Badusha. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making his web series debut with Heeramandi.
4) The Broken News Season 2
The upcoming thriller series is directed by Vinay Vaikule and written by Sambit Mishra. Broken News is based on the world of news reporting. The new season will see Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Pilgaonkar reprising their roles as Amina Qureshi, Dipankar Sanyal and Radha Bhargava respectively. The Breaking News 2 will stream on ZEE5 from May 3.
5) Your thoughts
The romantic comedy stars Anne Hathaway as a 40-year-old divorced mother who has an affair with a teen pop sensation named Hayes (Nicholas Galitzine) after meeting them at Coachella. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Robin Lee and is reportedly inspired by Harry Styles fan fiction. The Idea of You was released on Prime Video on 2 May.
6) Acapulco Season Three
In season three of the Apple Original, it’s time to right past mistakes and make exciting new beginnings. In the current story, the aging Máximo (Eugenio Derbez) finds himself returning to Las Colinas he no longer recognizes. In 1985, young Máximo (Enrique Esper) continues to climb the ladder of success, while potentially jeopardizing all the relationships he’s worked so hard to build. The cast includes Fernando Carrasa, Damien Alcazar, Camila Pérez, Vanessa Bouche, Regina Reynoso, Rafael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Rafael Cebrian, Carlos Corona, Regina Orozco, Cristo Fernandez and Jaime Camil. Acapulco season three will premiere globally on May 1 with the first two episodes of its 10-episode season, followed by a new episode every Wednesday until June 26.
7) unusual family
This 12 episode web series will be released on Netflix on May 4. It stars Jang Ki Yong, Chun Woo Hee, Go Doo Shim and Claudia Kim. The drama’s official description on Netflix reads, “Once endowed with unique superpowers, a family loses their abilities due to modern problems – until a mysterious woman changes everything.”
