oscars 2024: Dresses with strong silhouettes, sparkles and Barbie-inspired pinks dominated the Oscars red carpet on Sunday for both women and men. Sandra Huller, best actress nominee for “Anatomy of a Fall,” wore a black gown with a dramatic neckline, as did actresses Eva Longoria and Rita Moreno. Cynthia Erivo wore a green gown with large cap sleeves, with a train running down the back.
Best actress nominee Emma Stone of “Poor Things” wore a light green dress with a wide, strapless bodice. America Ferrera, best supporting actress nominee for “Barbie,” wore a bright pink form-fitting gown. Midnight Blue was also popular among women, such as Lily Gladstone, nominated for Best Actress for “Killers of the Flower Moon”, Annette Bening, nominated for Best Actress for “Nyad”, and co-star and nominee for Best Supporting Actress Jodie Foster. Many people also broke the tradition. While many wore the standard black tuxedo, many went in other directions. Colman Domingo, best actor nominee for “Rustin,” wore a silver button tuxedo, complete with a brooch on his bow tie. Ryan Gosling, nominated for best supporting actor for “Barbie,” wore a suit with shiny trim and no tie. Bradley Cooper, best actor nominee for “Maestro,” also ditched the tie, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson showed up in a teal shiny suit and no tie.
And some women chose pantsuits, like Best Director nominee Justin Truitt for “Anatomy of a Fall,” who chose a suit decorated with shiny lines. Another accessory on the carpet were red pins calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, which were seen on songstress siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell and actor Mark Ruffalo. Members of the Osage Nation, who will sing the best song nominee “Killers of the Flower Moon,” walked the red carpet in colorful tribal attire.
