One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) – The new scheme of the Central Government will provide access to international journals to at least 18 million students of central and state funded universities.
About 30 publishers, including Elsevier and Cambridge University Press, have agreed to collaborate with the government on the scheme. According to the report, the first phase of the scheme will go live on January 1, 2025, which was approved by the Union Cabinet last month. PTI,

This is the first time that the government has agreed with the 30 largest publishers of STEM, management, social sciences and humanities.
According to a release from the Press Information Bureau, the list of publishers includes Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, BMJ Journals, Cambridge University Press, Sage, Oxford University Press and Project MUSE.

When will private universities get access?
At present, the first phase of ONOS scheme is available only for Central and State funded universities. Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) Ajay Sood said that private institutions are likely to be included in the second phase.
“Phase-one, which will be implemented over the next three years, will provide access to all central and state-funded universities and colleges across India. After that, we plan to extend it to private institutions and eventually target universal access through all designated access points to all public institutions in phase three,” Professor Ajay Sood told.
