Om Raut broke his silence
In the interview, he said that the film was a victim of misconception and actually did well at the box office. He said that stars like Prabhas and Salman Khan are ‘flop-proof’, adding that they have a huge fan following.
He said, “The ups and downs cannot affect him as the audience’s love for him is beyond comprehension.”
Talking about the film’s performance he said, “Our first day 70 crores, and that’s just in India. Our total box office was over 400 crores. So, the numbers were huge… With Adipurush, there was a loss of sentiment, not a loss of revenue. If the sentiment was positive, if the sentiment was in control, we could have seen a much higher number, which we didn’t see. It was disappointing.”
When asked about the criticism that Adipurush received, the filmmaker said that these things do not matter at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is how it performed at the box office.
He said that despite what was written about the film, he received messages from people across the country praising the film. He said that the public perception about the film as a whole became negative. He attributed this to the interest in regressive media.
About the failure of Adipurush
Despite being acclaimed as a brilliant retelling of the Ramayana epic, Om Raut’s high-budget project, Ramayan, turned out to be a disaster at the box office. The film faced criticism for shoddy VFX, inadequate graphics, mediocre dialogues and a dull plot, leaving the audiences who were eagerly waiting for the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer disappointed. Even though the filmmakers made some dialogue adjustments after the release of Adipurush, the film still faced widespread trolling. It also starred Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan.
